Frequently Asked Questions
How do I set up Intent - Focus?
When you first open the app, you'll be guided through granting Screen Time permissions. This allows Intent to block and unblock apps on your behalf. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
Why does the app need Screen Time access?
Intent uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to block apps by default and temporarily unlock them when you set an intention. This permission is required for the core functionality of the app.
Can I choose which apps are blocked?
Yes. During setup and in the app settings, you can configure which apps are blocked by default and which apps are always allowed (like Phone, Messages, or other essential apps).
What happens when my session time expires?
When your session ends, the apps you unlocked will be blocked again automatically. You'll need to set a new intention to access them again.
Can I end a session early?
Yes. You can end your current session at any time from within the app, which will immediately re-block the apps you had unlocked.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. All your data stays on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
The app isn't blocking apps correctly. What should I do?
First, check that Screen Time permissions are properly granted in your device's Settings app under Screen Time. If issues persist, try removing and re-adding the permissions, or reinstall the app.
How do I uninstall the app?
You can delete Intent - Focus like any other app. Before uninstalling, we recommend disabling the app's blocking in settings to ensure all your apps are accessible again.
